Dr. Patrizio Antici will be supporting the research team at CALA as Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award winner funded by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. Patrizio Antici is a professor at the Institute national de la recherche scientifique at the University of Quebec in Canada. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of applied photonics, specializing in light-matter interactions and laser-driven particle acceleration. “I’m very delighted to have the opportunity to tackle new challenges in the field of laser-driven particle acceleration with my colleagues at the CALA research center,” says Patrizio Antici.

The Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Prize rewards internationally renowned academics in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments in research. The prize has recently been integrated into the ‘Global Minds Initiative’ Germany, funded by the Bundesministerium für ­Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt. With this program, the German government aims to offer international researchers a safe haven of scientific freedom and attractive career prospects in Germany.
