Congratulations to Prof. Patrizio Antici, who will temporally join CALA as a recipient of the Humboldt Foundation’s Bessel Research Award, awarded within the framework of the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space’s “Global Minds Initiative”. Last Friday in Bamberg, Federal Minister Dorothee Bär presented him with the certificate.
Patrizio Antici, from the Institut national de la recherche scientifique in Québec, Canada, is an internationally recognized expert in applied photonics, with a particular focus on light-matter interactions and laser-driven particle acceleration. At CALA, he will collaborate with Prof. Jörg Schreiber on joint experiments using laser-driven proton sources. While Schreiber’s work focuses on applications relevant to radiation therapy, including radiation chemistry processes following proton impact, Antici will mainly address questions in materials research.
We are delighted to host Patrizio at CALA and to embrace the Humboldtian spirit of international scientific exchange, broadening and diversifying our research through this collaboration.
