High-ranking visitor from Berlin at the Centre for Advanced Laser Applications (CALA). The Federal Minister of Education and Research, Bettina Stark-Watzinger, visited CALA to learn about laser research and, in particular, how the high-intensity laser pulses of the ATLAS3000 can be collaboratively exploited for research in fusion for providing environmentally friendly energy. In this context, LMU professors Stefan Karsch and Jörg Schreiber presented their research and technology developments to the minister.
In a subsequent round of talks, the engineers from the company Marvel Fusion, which cooperates with LMU scientists, also explained their approach to how such a laser-driven energy source could work.
